This letter really touched my heart and reminded me again why I became a pediatrician. The opportunity to help children and their families both prevent illness and recover from it, is a special gift that I greatly value.
Subject: Messages of Thanks from Egor Laz’ parents
Now that Egor is completely recovered we wanted to write to sincerely thank all the staff of Samitivej Sukhumvit hospital, and in particular Dr. Anjana Sachabudhawong and Dr. Amornphun Gaensan for their helpful, friendly, enthusiastic and professional treatment and care. As well as we would like to express our deepest and sincere gratitude and appreciation to Nisarat Jaidee and her assistant Thunayaporn Arunsmith for their amazing support, understanding and help that they gave to our family! All doctors, nurses and hospital team of the ICU Department, Pediatric Ward and Rehabilitation Unit, every single member of staff was so kind, patient, caring and attentive as well as efficient and informative. Our little 4 year-old son Egor had pneumonia and he was transported to the Samitivej Sukhumvit hospital from Phuket hospital at the beginning of this year. His treatment promised to be more challenging and more difficult as our little boy has a very rare genetic syndrome that makes pneumonia more dangerous. And we worried a lot because without the immediate intervention of highly skilled and qualified staff we could simply lose him. But from the moment we entered ICU and met Dr. Anjana we realized that we are in safe and capable hands.
Our son was immediately examined, and subsequently diagnosed and started on a new antibiotic. From the very beginning Dr. Anjana took the time to go through the process and explain in detail our son’s condition, it’s symptoms and subsequent treatment in a very good English, and our son was visited by her every day until his discharge. Dr. Anjana’s kindness and professionalism, as well as her reassuring explanations in fluent English and wonderful bedside manner made us feel less stressful and more confident and relaxed during this very anxious period for our family. She was extremely courteous and patient listening to our concerns throughout and very friendly replying to all our questions any time. We want to thank her so very much for saving our son and for the wonderful genuine care she gave him. Actually we’re much more grateful than words can show. She is an exceptional doctor and amazing person, we couldn’t have wished for any better treatment for our son.
And we would like to express our grateful thanks and appreciation to Nisarat Jaidee for her kindness, understanding and her special attitude facing our difficult situation. We can’t thank her enough for her generosity and empathy. And may we pass on our thanks to her assistant Thunayaporn Arunsmith who was very helpful and extra caring over this time . Also we would definitely like to thank Dr. Amornphun Gaensan for taking such good care of our son during his stay at Pediatric Ward, she was very understanding, patient, approachable, attentive and explained to us what was needed at the right level. It was a very efficient close follow-up and we are very grateful for all the tests done and all the doctor’s recommendations.
Due to his genetic syndrome our little son has a developmental and cognitive delay and most of the time he is not easy to cooperate with, especially when he is distressed and frightened. And all the lovely nurses on ICU, as well as Physical rehabilitation team and Pediatric Ward staff were so kind and patient, caring, understanding and wonderful at taking time to talk and play with my boy and helping to put him at ease. We was really impressed with the attitude from all of the staff that dealt with our son Egor. Please would you pass on our grateful thanks to everyone on your team for saving our son and for the high level of care you performed to him. The whole our family will never forget what you’ve done for us.
With unending gratitude,
Daria and Oleg (Egor’s parents)
